Canning Manager | Tour Guide 


Canning Manager

Job Summary 

The Canning Manager is responsible for the production of canned beer including management of team members working in this area.

Essential Functions in Supporting Our Mission

The role of Canning Manager is important as this person is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient production of canned beer while maintaining Flying Dog Brewery’s quality standards.

Responsibilities

The Canning Manager is responsible for the operation of packaging machines and processes in accordance with Flying Dog’s Standard Operating Procedures and the oversight of the team members involved in these operations. Employee safety and efficient production as well as maintaining Flying Dog Brewery’s quality standards are essential to being successful in this role.

The daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Daily operation of canning line
  • Management of raw material inventory and supply
  • Daily maintenance and repair of packaging equipment
  • Supervision and management of canning team
  • Quality control checks
  • CIP of equipment
  • Delivery of finished product to warehouse
  • Management, organization, and completion of all relevant documentation

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3 years brewery / packaging experience
  • Familiar with general principals of beer packaging
  • Understanding of proper product rotation 
  • Basic to advanced math and computer skills
  • Excellent safety record

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work on your feet for over eight hours at a time, repeatedly lift 55lbs, work in extreme temperatures for extended periods of time, in loud production environments, and work with chemicals of varying composition.

Success Factors

Must be a good communicator, able to follow a detailed chain of instruction, lead by example, think fast, and be team player with a high degree of dedication to the craft.

This position is an evening / night shift. Successful candidate will report to Chief Operating Officer. Salary DOE.

Tour Guide – Part Time

Job Summary

Our tour guides are primarily responsible for communicating the Flying Dog story and providing visitors with basic knowledge of our brewing process and products while leaving them with memorable experience.

Essential Functions in Supporting Our Mission

  • Conduct brewery tours so that every visitor walks away with an outstanding experience that educates them about the Flying Dog brand and story
  • Serve our products to visitors in a friendly and helpful manner and communicate the Flying Dog brand accurately
  • Collect payment and check identification of visitors to make sure they meet age requirements
  • Ensure visitors do not consume excessive alcohol by adhering to the maximum sample limits set by Flying Dog
  • Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the Tasting Room and gift shop

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to develop an understanding of our products and brewing process and convey that knowledge to visitors
  • Dynamic public speaking ability
  • Outstanding customer service and people skills
  • Ability to record sales and handle cash/credit cards as needed
  • Must have the capability to become TIPS certified 

Working Conditions

Must be able to work on your feet for an extended period of time in a fast paced environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Degree
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Cash handling experience and math skills
  • Must be 21 or older
