Hey, New York chapter of the People’s Republic of Flying Dog!
There’s an awesome craft beer bar in Brooklyn called the Fourth Avenue Pub. We were checking out our RSS feeds today and saw that this month they’ve got out extra rare Barrel-Aged Gonzo Imperial Porter on tap. Sp take the D, M, N, or R train down and score some barrel-aged beer!
Flying Dog is super excited to sponsor the CD release party for Colorado’s premier funk band, U.S. Pipe at Denver’s Bluebird Theater, on Thursday, February 19 at 8 p.m. We’ll have some tasty Flying Dog Ales on hand and will be passing out Flying Dog schwag.
The album, released through their own label, Pipe Circle Music, Inc., was produced by Bill Thomas, recorded and mixed by Christopher “C3″ Cardone at Area Five Point One Studio in Evergreen, Colo., and was mastered by multi-Grammy winning David Glasser of Airshow Mastering, Boulder, Colo. United Sound Pipe features cover art by famous artist, Scrojo (scrojo.com) and very special guest, Rick Gardner, on trumpet (rubberhorn.com). An original member of Bootsy’s Rubber Band and longtime member of the P-Funk family, U.S. Pipe is honored to collaborate with him.
Support acts on the bill for the release party are Foma*, a quintet with a sonic palette that combines rock-alternative, funk, and blues, all lightly peppered with a pinch of country twang, Future Jazz Project, who set a new level of artistry with jazz roots combined with hip hop, R&B, and soul, and up-and-coming DJs The Illionaires.
The evening will also feature some giveaways and other fun surprises. The first 50 fans in the door will receive a collectible poster with Scrojo’s amazing album art signed by U.S. Pipe. In addition, everyone who brings a non-perishable food item and/or clothing to donate to local area charities will receive freebies courtesy of Flying Dog Brewery, a longtime supporter of U.S. Pipe.
“We know these are tough times for everyone,” says U.S. Pipe leader, Citrus, “so we really wanted to make this party an opportunity to give back to those who need it the most. We hope everyone will come out and not only have a great time, but bring a donation so we can spread the positivity within the community.”
Tickets for the release party are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. For tickets, go here.
About U.S. Pipe:
U.S. Pipe’s music and live performance has garnered both mainstream and critical acclaim. Their most recent exploits include opening once again for George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic on January 10, playing Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 8, 2008, before the screening of “Purple Rain” as part of the popular annual Film on the Rocks series, garnering a second-year-in-a-row nomination by Westword as Denver’s Best Funk Band in 2008, and playing parties and events during the Democratic National Convention, including the Green Frontier Fest and the Sustainable Living Roadshow. United Sound Pipe is their debut full length release.
Our newest Canis Major brew is Kerberos Tripel. We let consumers taste Kerberos for the first time just about a year ago up in Vail at the 2008 Vail BIg Beers, Belgians and Barleywines Festival. Consumer response to our spin on a traditional Belgian style has been wonderful, and the news keeps getting better. Our beer columnist friend Bill Brand wrote a blog entry on Monday about American Craft Beer being available at the storied Delirium Cafe in Brussels. Along with Rogue Brewery beers, you can now find a variety of our beer on tap there.
Our beers currently on tap there:
K-9 Cruiser Winter Ale
Snake Dog IPA
Tire Bite Golden Ale
The Flying Dog crew wants to invite everyone in Colorado to come drink some beers with us! We are hosting a “Tweet-Up” at the Blake Street Tavern on Tuesday, January 13th from 6-8! This is a great opportunity to drink some Flying Dog beers you may not have had a chance to try or your all time favorite brew for FREE! Blake Street Tavern carries all of our “pack” brews on draft and all of our Canis Major beers in bottles. We will be buying the People’s Republic of Flying Dog brews and appetizers and you get a free pint glass if you say a secret code. Check out our twitter page for that code!
See you on Tuesday! Cheers!
