Frederick, MD is just a hop, skip and a jump from DC – that is unless you’re battling the rush hour traffic on 270, which in that case it’s more like a long journey.  Either way, our friends at Premium DC came to take a VIP brewery tour last week.  As usual we “wowwed” them with beer knowledge.

Premium DC Visits Flying Dog Brewery

Our friends at The Gate in Brooklyn threw a great promotion last week.  The had the normal cast of Flying Dog characters on draft including Tire Bite and In-Heat Wheat – but these guys went the extra mile and had some Double Dog, Gonzo and Horn Dog that they had been cellared for a couple years.  PLUS, they had a special cask of Snake Dog with Amarillo hops.

The Gate was a wonderful host, had a fabulous selection of Flying Dog and a great staff.  For more photos from this event click here or on the image below.

Here is our updated bracket as Barrel-Aged Gonzo Imperial Porter eeked out a victory over Barrel-aged Horn Dog and Dog Schwarz triumphed over the Open Source Doppelbock.

Beer Radness 03

Thanks to all 16,000 of you that came out to the Atlantic Beer Festival last weekend.  As you can see below, the festival served as a Lutz Family Reunion of sorts as VP of Sales, Jim Lutz (left) brought his brother and nephew along for the festivities.  The name of the young lady on in the photo is unknown as of press time.

We’ve posted some photos on our Flickr page.

Cheers, mate!

It’s the time of year when words like “brackets”, “Cinderella” and “office pool” (hello, Rick Neuheisel) sneak into almost everyone’s vernacular.  Time to fill out your brackets and predict who will take it all.

Well, we like talking about beer more than trying to figure out if Cleveland State has any chance against Wake Forest, so we’ve put together our own bracket to figure out what Flying Dog beer is the best.  And you thought it was tough to predict those pesky 8/9 match-ups?!

To start off, we have a couple “play in” match-ups:

Snake Dog IPA vs. Road Dog Porter and In-Heat Wheat vs. Tire Bite Golden Ale. Click on the links to vote and on the image below for the full bracket.  Voting on the first round will go on through Thursday at 11:43 EST

Flying Dog Beer Radness

And why did we call it Beer Radness?  Well, we couldn’t say March ***ness because CBS tends to get a little weird when people use their catch phrasses without permission.  And there is already another “beer madness”.  Plus, all of our beers are “rad” … and it rhymes with the other, more well-known phrase.  So there.

RFD is one DC’s best beer bars and on May 2, they’ll be hosting a charity event to benefit the Children’s National Medical Center.  The event will feature “bottomless” cups of Flying Dog, door prizes, Wizards Cheerleaders and more!  All of that for a $40 donation.  Click on the link below for all the details.

The most recent stop on the Jim Lutz World Tour was Michigan to visit our friends at Rave Distributing.  The love Flying Dog up North and we owe a big thanks to these guys for making it happen.  In case you couldn’t figure it out, the guys from Rave are the ones that look all professional.  Lutz was just there to drink, party and go to a Red Wings game.
