If you totally meant to buy tickets to our Holiday 4/20 party, but instead…
  • Got hungry and couldn’t stop thinking about Chubby Hubby ice cream until you walked to 7-Eleven to get some. (Then, upon entering 7-Eleven, forgot about said Hubby and purchased 17 taquitos.)
  • Jammed on your guitar for 5 and a half hours, and subsequently had the best goddamn jam session of your life.
  • Had a heated internal debate on if it’s cool to find cartoon characters attractive.
  • Lit a candle and tried to figure out what (like seriously, what) makes fire so fucking beautiful.
  • Watched the entire first season of Sanford and Son.
  • Asked your cat if the government can be trusted.
  • Fell asleep.
…then we’ve got the best news ever on the face of this planet. Tickets for our Holiday 4/20 party at the brewery this Friday will be available at the door.

You can still buy them online for $15, but we will have a limited number available for $20 each when the party starts at 4:20 pm.

So, you can save $5 and buy them now or play that risky game of life and get them at the door Friday. No pressure, dude.

You submit words and Mark Burrier draws them.

Don’t be fooled by that surface simplicity. Our latest artistic collaboration is anything but.

Mark is a world-renowned illustrator, cartoonist, and designer who lives here in Frederick. Rare Words is his collaborative drawing blog where readers submit words that become the creative starting point for Mark’s original art. When Mark completes one of the user-inspired drawings, he posts it to the blog. (Additionally, 100 of Mark’s favorite submissions have already been compiled in the book Rare Words: Volume 1.

But starting today, all submissions to Rare Words will be in contention for original art that will premiere Saturday, June 2 at the brewery. We’ll give some sneak peaks along the way, but from now until Friday, May 18, all submissions on Rare Words will be kept secret until our show June 2.

Submit your words on Rare Words. Then, come to the brewery Saturday, June 2 from 7 to 10 pm to find out if yours are chosen for the show. We’ll have a ton of Mark’s original art on display, along with live music by Old Indian and beer samples.

The Baltimore Orioles have yours truly on their team at Camden Yards this season. Our beer will be on draft at over 20 locations in the ballpark, including the new Roof Deck bar at centerfield. We’ll also have our own storefront that will offer locally-inspired food pairings, like Old Bay corn dogs, with our beer.

And beginning April 27, we’re hosting “Firkin Fridays” at the stadium featuring a different cask-conditioned beer at each of the Orioles’ Friday night home games.

Our starting line-up for tomorrow’s Opening Day includes Snake Dog IPA and Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale on draft, along with Raging Bitch Belgian-Style IPA, Woody Creek Belgian White, Old Scratch Amber Lager, In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen, and UnderDog Atlantic Lager in bottles.

Speaking of UnderDog, the very first cans produced at the brewery will make a special appearance tomorrow at Pickles Pub and Sliders for Opening Day. Just $4 for a can of our new Atlantic Lager starting at 5:30 am!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at Disobedience Abbey Dubbel, our first Brewhouse Rarities release caged in bottles. Because our mechanical bottling line is set up for 12 oz., each 750 ml bottle is hand-packaged. Look for bottle-conditioned Disobedience Abbey Dubbel on shelves (and also on draft) starting April 1 in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

An IPA with no hops by two breweries separated by sea? Dodge the draft, hide your wives, and guard your children. The International Arms Race is on!

Our combative collaboration with BrewDog – International Arms Race Zero IBU IPA – pits brewer against brewer in a battle of the brewing arts. Unlike your standard collaboration, each brewery will craft its own version of the beer, guided only by common ingredients.

These “terms of agreement” highlight the human element of the brewing process. Even with agreed-upon ingredients, the hands that craft it are hugely influential.

Another challenge in this collab? Hops, a brewer’s best weapon on the IPA front, are banned from there battlefield.

To create a Zero IBU IPA, we all agreed on a list of ingredients – spearmint, bay leaves, rosemary, juniper berries, and elderflower – to replace the bitterness typically imparted by hops.

This project will also be a battle of illustrators, pitting Gonzo artist Ralph Steadman work for yours truly against the designs of Johanna Basford, a long-time friend of BrewDog.

Behold Steadman’s design:

And onto the beauty of Basford:

Now, it’s time to see who’s boss. And we’re ready for war.
